ICON will start off good with a huge line up for the first edition of 2008! Of course with residents Nymfo and Pressure, but also with 3 guest DJ’s.
Prepare yourself for a dark set from Ed Rush, most known for his collaborations with Optical. He released on labels like Metalheadz and is responsible for the ultimate classic album in the “dark†drum and bass genre: “The Wormhole LPâ€. He established himself as a producer with a dark sound and heavy bass lines, which started a whole new era in drum and bass. Later on, superb albums like The Creeps followed and Ed Rush is still guaranteed to give you goosebumps during his set.
Heavy competition for him will come from Bad Company UK. Responsible for “The Nineâ€, a record that many consider as the best drum and bass tune all time. Their break through became definite when they started releasing on Grooverider’s Prototype label. A few years later they had huge succes with their album “Shot Down On Safariâ€, that combined reggae vocals with drum and bass. This record pushed Michael Jackson away from his number 1 position in the dance charts. With awards like “DJ Mag best DJ†plus a huge record collection, you can expect some firework from Bad Company UK.
Black Sun Empire is one of the best known Dutch drum and bass collectives. Three guys from Utrecht concurred the world in the last few years, influenced by the sound of labels like No U Turn, Prototype and Virus. They had their break through with their remix of the classic tune “Mutant Jazz†for Trace-Rollers Instinct. On their own label “Black Sun Empire†they only had big releases and many tours followed.
